What if I’ve never built a boat before?

You’ve hit the mother load!  We’ve designed our step-by-step system just for you!  I mean we break it down!!!  We use a proven system that has worked for thousands of projects!

What about safety?

Good Question!  Since there is a few different tools and ways to cut out and assemble a boat, and most of them are woodworking tools, we’ve assembled  a collection of the to 10 search results from the major search engines in woodworking safety! So peek at our safety info page!

Are the plans inches or metric?

Currently plans are in INCHES and we may have them in metric sometime next year…

What kind of tools do I need?

You can  ”roll your own” pee-rogue with just a few simple hand tools!  Complete bill of materials, and photos of the tools we use every day included with your plans!

Which plywood is best… marine or exterior?

Ayeeee.  The pandora’s box of the bayou.  Bottom line is Marine Plywood is higher quality…BUT  we’ve built a LOTTA pirogues and small skiffs with exterior.  But that’s just what worked for us.  You know the drill, the lawyers won’t let me tell YOU to do it…lol.

If you build a boat, you are ultimately responsible for your actions.  Se tut.

Can I use fiberglass?

Yes and No.  Yes you can, no we don’t recommend it.  Resin that is.  We use Epoxy resin and Fiberglass cloth.

What about epoxy?

The greatest goop ever… yup we love  it!

How long does it take to build your design?

That’s like asking how long it’s gonna take a woman to get ready.  If you want a simple, working boat, no fancy paint, no fancy mirror finish, varnished rails etc, figure about two good weekends.

If you want a “yacht finish”… good luck, cause that takes a LONG time!

Can I change the design?

Tet Dur.  Means “hard head” in coonass.  Not recommended.  I know there’s folks out there that can give me a million reasons why, but we don’t suggest it.  First build you a pirogue or two, get the hang of what a proven design feels like, then if you wanna jump off and experiment, have at it.

What if I can’t understand the plans?

Then you’re a moron.  NAWWW just pullin your leg, Most of our plans are very simple and if you read them a couple of times you should catch on.
